Housing for Seminary Students
March 1, 2014
The Seminary has been in the business of housing full time students since our arrival in New Brunswick in 1810. Over the last three decades, we have experienced a dramatic shift from residential to commuter students. With the closing of Scudder Hall some five years ago, we have housed our full time students in Rutgers apartments and most recently at the Vue, the newest apartment complex just a few blocks from our campus and next to the railroad station.
With the creation of a new seminary campus on the corner of Seminary Place and College Avenue, we have worked with the Development Corporation of New Brunswick in providing more permanent apartments for our students which will not require the Seminary to own, build and manage housing.
We are delighted to announce that a new apartment building will soon be built on Mine Street just a half block from our new campus which will reserve at student rates a minimum of ten apartments for seminary use. A sketch of the apartment building is above, and with its completion we will be able to provide studio, one bedroom and two bedroom apartments for our residential students.
