Microcredential Programs
You want to serve and grow, but you need a pathway that fits your life.
Whether you’re a ministry professional, layperson, or lifelong learner, our microcredential programs are designed for this moment—and made for you.
What’s a Microcredential?
Microcredentials are short, focused programs offering theological and practical training without the full-time commitment of a traditional degree. Our microcredentials include three courses and a capstone practicum, all designed to be completed in less than a year. And best of all—they’re stackable. That means your credits can go toward a degree program, so you’re always building toward the next step.
- Practical: Apply what you learn right away
- Affordable: Built for your budget, schedule, and life
- Connected: Learn with peers who share your purpose
- Stackable: Apply credits toward future degrees
Programs
In a moment marked by crisis, division, and deep need, we offer two targeted microcredentials:
Justice and Inclusion
For those who won’t look away—who feel the tension between the gospel and the world around them—this microcredential offers the tools to confront injustice head-on. Designed for ministry leaders, advocates, and everyday believers, it equips you to name injustice, challenge broken systems, and build something better.
- Build a shared vocabulary and critical tools for justice work
- Examine how religious institutions shape systems of power
- Discern what faithful leadership looks like in your community
- Design a real-world project that puts your learning into action
By the time you complete the program, you won’t just understand systems—you’ll be prepared to disrupt them. And because this credential is stackable, your credits can move with you into a Master of Arts (M.A.) or Master of Divinity (MDiv) at NBTS.
Courses: Start in January with a workshop and spring course on Analyzing the Systems of Privilege. Choose your second course—either Christian Ethics and Social Justice in spring or Spirit and Struggle in summer. Pick a relevant fall elective and wrap it up with a capstone weekend in December.
- Analyzing Systems of Privilege Workshop & Course
- Choice of History or Theology Course
- Christian Ethics and Social Justice
- Spirit and Struggle: Histories of Christianity in the U.S.
- Choice of Bible, Preaching, Worship, or Ministry Course
(Select from Fall offerings) - Capstone Practicum
(Weekend intensive in December)

Designed for ministry leaders, chaplains, caregivers, and anyone called to walk alongside others in times of need, it prepares you to nurture the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.
