BISHOP DONALD HILLIARD, JR. RETURNS TO NEW BRUNSWICK THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY AS DISTINGUISHED PRACTITIONER IN RESIDENCE
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – The New Brunswick Theological Seminary announces that Rev. Dr. Donald Hilliard, Jr., Senior Pastor of Cathedral International – The Historic Second Baptist Church in Perth Amboy, NJ, has been appointed as Distinguished Practitioner in Residence.
In his new capacity at New Brunswick Theological Seminary, Dr. Hilliard will facilitate a series of Courageous and Confidential Conversations among Clergy for the NBTS Center for Clergy Care. “New Brunswick Theological Seminary is elated to have Dr. Hilliard join our community as Distinguished Practitioner in Residence.” says Rev. Micah McCreary, Ph.D., President and the John Henry Livingston Professor of Theology, New Brunswick Theological Seminary. The central task of this new initiative is to provide guidance, nurture, and development for area clergy. The program will focus on building lasting and supportive relationships between busy clergy persons. Dr. Hilliard will also teach a course entitled, “Issues of Pastoral Care and Contemporary Issues in Urban Ministry” in the Doctor of Ministry concentration in Prophetic Urban Ministry.
Dr. Hilliard said about this program, “I am excited about bringing the resources of the Cathedral Community Counseling Center into partnership with New Brunswick Theological Seminary to provide guidance, nurture, and development for area clergy. This past summer I was struck by the loss of yet another young pastor who lost his battle with depression/anxiety and took his own life. Clergy are in crisis. We are beginning a series of Courageous, Confidential Conversations among Clergy because our co-laborers need to know that they do not have to suffer alone.”
