Donor Spotlight: Gay and Michael Morris
December 5, 2022
Models of generosity spark the spirit of generosity in others. Trustees Gay and Michael Morris were struck by the generosity of a friend and current NBTS donor, Anna Gonzales, who modeled the importance of participating in denominational leadership with her work with the RCA. She encouraged them to support denominational efforts and the work at NBTS. They also were influenced by the model of their church friends, Sandra and Eugene Fisher, who served as board members at NBTS.
Over the years, they took delight in supporting the mission of NBTS with their financial giving. They have found resonance with the commitments to antiracism and the ways that the mission of the school connects with their own convictions. They witnessed how the Seminary equips servants from all walks of life to spread the gospel in their communities, both in the U.S. and abroad. Michael explains, “It is a comfort to know that our contributions make a difference in the lives of students and provide resources vital for a world-class seminary education.”
They later expanded their giving beyond the financial to include their time and talents. They have both served as trustees at NBTS (first Gay, and currently Michael) where they have brought expertise in urban planning, facility management, and other non-profit board service to enhance the work of the seminary.
Gay and Michael Morris are models of generosity of time, talent, and treasure, and they proudly state that it has been a privilege to offer all these gifts to NBTS.
