Our mission is simple: to inform, inspire, positively shape and enhance the work of practitioners who desire to engage and advance their spiritual formation, knowledge base, and ability to be a transformative ministerial presence in and for the communities they serve.
Why an NBTS Doctor of Ministry degree?
Our Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) program immerses pastors, chaplains, and leaders in a rigorous and creative theological environment. Our small class size, online and hybrid learning environment, mentoring with distinguished faculty, and emphasis on generating innovative, rigorous, and research-based doctoral theses make our D.Min. program an ideal choice for leaders who desire to advance their theological training.
The NBTS Advantage
Affordable
NBTS is committed to providing a quality, cost-effective doctoral education. We deliver the most affordable degree of its kind in the northeastern region. In addition, financial aid and some scholarships are also available for qualifying students.
Flexible
Our program is designed for the busy professional. Admission is available for both the fall and spring semesters. Students can take two courses per semester for two years, or one course per semester for four years before beginning their thesis work. NBTS will help you design the course of study best for you and your ministry, with flexible options to enroll part-time in classes – with a maximum time completion of six years.
Convenient
Our online/hybrid approach is designed to fit your schedule. Students begin and end the semester with online/hybrid learning. In the middle of each term, all D.Min. students gather for one week of synchronous online intensive courses, worship, and fellowship. Students are welcome to visit campus, do research in Sage Library, and explore the greater New York City area on their own.
Rigorous
Doctor of Ministry students are taught by professors who are leaders in their fields. Each student is also assigned an advisor at the beginning of coursework to mentor them as they journey through the program. This advisor/mentor will help guide the student in developing the final dissertation and provide support throughout the program.
The D.Min. degree can be completed in three years. Coursework is completed in an online/hybrid format with students gathering twice for one-week intensives for the first two years, with ministry project completion in the final year.
