Middle States Commission on Higher Education

Effective November 15, 2018, New Brunswick Theological Seminary is Accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, 1007 North Orange Street, 4th Floor, MB #166, Wilmington, DE 19801; (267-284-5011); www.msche.org. The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, currently serving institutions of higher education in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and other geographic areas.

The scope of accreditation includes the Master’s degree or its equivalent credential level and the Doctor’s degree-Research/Scholarship.

Accreditation is an expression of confidence that the institution meets and is in compliance with MSCHE’s seven Standards of Excellence and Requirement of Affiliation. According to Middle States, “accredited institutions are expected to demonstrate compliance with these standards and requirements, to conduct their activities in a manner consistent with the standards and requirements, and to engage in ongoing processes of self-review and improvement.” It is through the self-study, required every eight years, that an institution demonstrates its compliance with the standards. New Brunswick Theological Seminary has been approved by New Jersey to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education.

Non-Discrimination Policy

No student will be barred from admission on the basis of race, gender or sexual orientation, and all opportunities at New Brunswick Theological Seminary will be open to all who are qualified according to the purposes of the Seminary.

The ATS and the United States Department of Education call for all accredited schools to post public statements of educational effectiveness. NBTS uses assembled data from student demographics, graduation and retention rates, default rates from our graduates who participate in the Federal Student Loan Program, and various student surveys regarding satisfaction with New Brunswick’s programs and the post-graduation experience.

Program Participation

New Brunswick Theological Seminary will not provide any commission, bonus, or other incentive payment based directly or indirectly on success in securing enrollments or financial aid to any persons or entities engaged in any student recruiting or admission activities or in making decisions regarding the award of student financial assistance, except that this paragraph shall not apply to the recruitment of foreign students residing in foreign countries who are not eligible to receive Federal student assistance.
