Message from the Dean
Welcome to New Brunswick Theological Seminary, your partner for theological education. Whether your purpose is preparing for ministry and service within the church, acquiring graduate education for a professional or teaching position, exploring biblical and theological topics for personal enrichment, or discovering your call to ministry, our purpose is to walk with you and design the educational path that helps you reach your personal and career goals.
As part of our diverse community of faculty and students, New Brunswick offers an enriching and supportive environment in which to thrive. Our faculty of talented scholars and ministry practitioners serve as your advisors to guide you towards success along your academic path. Your fellow students also provide support, encouragement, and partnership along the way. Innovative online classes incorporate community building practices, such as weekly chapel, small group discussions, and participative learning activities. Together, our community of faculty, staff, and students provide support for your academic learning and spiritual development.
As a seminary that prioritizes diversity and inclusion, we invite you to share your experiences and stories to discover how theological learning applies to your context and that of others. We encourage you to deepen your understanding of yourself, your theological tradition, and the world at large. Our desire is for you to experience personal growth that broadens and transforms your relationship with God and, therefore, your service to others.
Most importantly, our programs are rooted in prophetic ministry. Our motto “think critically, act justly, lead faithfully,” expresses our Gospel mandate for the education we provide. At New Brunswick Theological Seminary you join other students in learning how to recognize systems of power and privilege that impede justice and beset both church and society. Together we learn the skills to dismantle these systems wherever they may be found. We invite you to join us in this important work of Christ in in our places of life, work, and ministry.
We are looking forward to journeying with you as you begin a new and exciting chapter in theological education. We do so, individually and collectively, trusting in God whose is able to do abundantly more than all we could ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). We look forward to meeting you and having you a part of our vibrant theological community.
Blessings,
