Minister of Youth and Young Adults – St. Paul Baptist Church – Montclair, NJ
JOB SUMMARY: The Minister of Youth and Young Adults ensures the effective delivery of the church ministry by providing leadership and development for the youth and young adult population of SPBC. The functions include providing ministerial support to the Senior Pastor to ensure activities for the Youth and Young Adults are coordinated and coincide with the daily operation of the Church.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Nurture and support the spiritual life of the youth and young adults of the church
· Plan, coordinate, and lead senior and junior high service projects within the Church and neighboring communities
· Create and lead ministry programs that resonate with the college-aged and young adult community
· Participate regularly in worship both Sunday mornings and other worship times
· Serve as Head of Ministry for Children’s Church
· Provide pastoral care to youth and young adults, and to other church members at the request of the Senior Pastor
· Work with other Church staff and ministries as needed to further the mission of the Church
· Lead adult studies focusing on subject matters that resonate with youth and young adults
· Participate as an active member in the Christian Education Ministry
· Be an advocate for youth/young adults and serve as a liaison between the youth/young adult population and the rest of the congregation
· Assist the Senior Pastor and the church as requested with other tasks
· Encourage and facilitate youth and young adult participation in church-wide events and programs
· Plan and coordinate annual budget for Youth and Young Adult Ministries
· Develop and train volunteer network for Youth and Young Adult Ministries
Requirements:
· A personal relationship with God and Christian experience are required
· Minimum 5 years of experience as a Youth and Young Adult worship leader, Sunday School Facilitator, or Associate Minister
· Excellent Organizational skills with attention to detail
· Self-starter with the ability to take initiative, work on multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure
· Good oral and written communication skills
· Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with various levels of personnel
· Ability to handle confidential information in a trustworthy manner
· Exhibit a pleasant, courteous, professional, and empathetic demeanor
· Must have the ability to learn church protocol
· St. Paul Baptist Church membership preferred
· The ability to demonstrate and execute creativity with assignments a plus
Educational Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Intercultural Studies, Liberal Arts or related, and a Degree or certificate from an accredited Theological Seminary
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Internet, social media platforms, and email systems.
