Facilities & Cleaning Technician

Part Time (20 Hours Per Week)

New Brunswick Theological Seminary (NBTS) is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Facilities & Cleaning Technician to support the upkeep and cleanliness of our campus. The Facilities & Cleaning Technician will be responsible for keeping our facility looking its best by performing a variety of tasks related to cleaning, maintenance, and facility setup.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in facilities and cleaning in both a solo and in a team environment. This role is perfect for someone who takes pride in maintaining a clean, organized, and well-functioning environment.

This is a part-time position with flexible hours, some evening and weekends are required. Hourly rate starts at $19/hour.

Position description

Title:Facilities & Cleaning Technician

Accountable to:Facilities and Event Manager

Hours: Part-Time, Hourly

Position Summary:
This position ensures the cleanliness and set-up of the campus of New Brunswick Theological Seminary, including performing cleaning and light facility tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs general and detailed cleaning of interior and exterior spaces including, but not limited to mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, wiping, washing, polishing and dusting floors, carpet, walls, windows, and doors; cleaning restrooms, stairwells, offices and other areas as scheduled or required.
  • Trash and recycling removal.
  • Maintains supplies in restrooms and unclogs drains.
  • Sets-up and breaks down classrooms and meeting spaces as requested.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, reporting inventory needs to Facilities and Event Management.
  • Assists with light building, grounds, and parking lot maintenance including, but not limited to painting, pressure-washing, changing out locks, moving and assembling furniture, replacing filters, changing light bulbs, litter removal, snow removal, and planting trees.

 

Qualifications

  • One year of experience performing building cleaning and maintenance is required.
  • To obtain the knowledge and skills needed formal or informal education is required to ensure the ability to read, write, and perform mathematical computations at a level required for successful job performance.
  • A valid New Jersey Driver’s License is preferred.
  • Standard tools, materials, methods, and practices involved in building maintenance and safe work practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manuals.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate situations in the context of established goals and objectives.
  • Ability to engage in critical thinking and exercise independent judgment.
  • Experience working with persons from diverse social locations and perspectives.
  • Ability to collaborate with other staff and faculty and maintain collegial relations.
  • Commitment and understanding to working with a diverse and multicultural educational environment. Understanding of and comfort with Anti-Racism is a
