Artist Reception featuring Charles McCollough

March 14, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Charles will give a brief description of the sculptures followed by conversation and refreshments in the NBTS Student Commons.

While finishing his Ph.D. in Theology at Drew University, Charles McCollough began studying art. He is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, and he worked for the national staffs of the Board for Homeland Ministries doing adult education, and for The Office for Church and Society as a policy advocate for peace and justice in Washington, DC. At the same time that he was a teacher, editor, writer, and popular speaker throughout the country. he was studying drawing and sculpture at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Princeton Art Association, the Johnson Atelier, and Mercer County College.
His unique style of sculpting in clay, bronze, wood, and stone combines his progressive theology with profound and humorous images both sacred and profane. Since 2000 he has worked full time as a sculptor at his studio in a 19th century barn that he and his wife Carol have renovated in Hopewell, New Jersey. The energy for his home, studio, gallery, and kiln comes from a solar electric system they installed.
He has published eight books; the last three are fully illustrated with his sculptures: The Art of Parables, The Non-Violent Radical, and Faith Made Visible . He has done multi-media presentations at conferences, seminaries, colleges, and churches throughout the USA and in Europe and Australia. He has served as artist-in-residence at five seminaries.
