Dr. Wilbur and Marie Washington endowed scholarship at NBTS

We are delighted to announce a gift of $10,000 toward the establishment of a Wilbur and Marie Washington endowed scholarship at New Brunswick Theological Seminary. This significant gift moves us quickly toward the goal of receiving the required $25,000 toward a named endowed scholarship.
Memorial Service announcement for Dr. Wilbur Washington
We sadly share the news of the passing of Dr. Wilbur Washington, a 1952 graduate of New Brunswick Theological Seminary. Dr. Washington served as a congregational pastor in Illinois, California and New York, a professor and chaplain at Central College in Pella, Iowa, and professor at NBTS from 1980 to 1985. Wilbur served as the first African American President of the General Synod of the Reformed Church in America in 1988-1989. Dr. Washington, with his wife Marie, also served a number of congregations as an interim pastor in his retirement years.
In recognition of his remarkable life and faithful ministry, NBTS conferred on Dr. Washington an honorary degree in divinity in May of this year.
The Memorial Service for Dr. Washington is scheduled for Saturday, October 29th at 11:00 AM at the St. Paul UAME Church in Palmyra, NJ.
