Don Poest to Visit NBTS at St. John’s

The Rev. Don Poest, interim General Secretary of the Reformed Church in America, will be visiting with students and local church members and pastors on Wednesday, 11 April, 5:00-7:00 pm at St. John Hall on the St. John’s University campus in Queens. He will be answering questions about the upcoming General Synod and talking with participants about what he thinks the direction of the denomination is over a light dinner. This dinner-and-discussion session is being hosted by the Reformed Church Center at New Brunswick Theological Seminary. Dinner is free for seminary students, faculty, and staff. Everyone else is asked to make a donation to help cover the cost of dinner; the suggested donation is $15.00, but participants may give whatever they feel able to give.

Poest, a graduate of Hope College and Western Theological Seminary, served for 38 years as pastor of the Brunswick Reformed Church in Brunswick Ohio. He was president of the 2011 General Synod, and moderator of the General Synod Council the following year. He has been president of Lake Erie and Great Lakes City Classes and the Regional Synod of the Great Lakes, as well as servin on various denominational boards and committees. He came out of retirement to serve as interim General Secretary.
