Igniting Antiracist Activism: A Multi-seminary Conversation with Dr. Drew G. I. Hart

April 29, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Co-sponsored by:

New Brunswick Theological Seminary (New Brunswick, New Jersey)
Bethany Theological Seminary (Richmond, Indiana)
McCormick Theological Seminary (Chicago, Illinois)

As some churches continue traditions of advocacy for social witness and others awaken to new opportunities for response to social and political injustices, how will they organize and sustain this vital work? This multi-seminary conversation will feature Drew G.I. Hart, PhD, an Assistant Professor of Theology at Messiah College and an activist and speaker on topics of racial justice. He is the author of Trouble I’ve Seen: Changing the Way the Church Views Racism (2016) and Who Will Be a Witness?: Igniting Activism for God’s Justice, Love, and Deliverance (2020). Students, faculty, and community members from three seminaries representing a range of theological traditions and social and geographical contexts will be able to ask questions and engage with Dr. Hart to explore shared and contextually diverse antiracist organizing.
Moderators:
Rev. Nannette Banks, Vice President of Community Engagement and Alumni Relations, McCormick Theological Seminary
and Nathan Jérémie-Brink, PhD, Feakes Assistant Professor of the History of Global Christianity, New Brunswick Theological Seminary
