2024 Theme: Framing Difficult Conversations in a Time of Fear

Event Purpose:
To strengthen alumni ties through a showcase of notable NBTS clergy experiences. Speakers and panelists will talk about key topics in their field of ministry from a personal perspective, opening the door for networking, mentorship, and collaboration through sharing of mutual experiences. This form of exposition also aims to raise the profile of NBTS by demonstrating the effective work of its alumni/ae in real-life ministry settings.

- NBTS Current Students
- Local Clergy
Topics include:
- Handling Difficult Conversations as a Clergy Leader
- Race & Gender Nuances in Difficult Conversations
- Engaging in Interfaith Conversations
- Practical Approaches to Uncomfortable Conversations
Structure:
Opening chapel session followed by 4 workshop presentations throughout the day. Each session consists of 45 mins of presentation time with 15 mins of Q&A. Additional time for in-person and online networking should be available after / between sessions. Each session will have 1-3 speakers, plus a moderator to guide the conversation.

10 am-11 am – Race & Gender with President Micah McCreary & Dr. Beth L. Tanner
11:10 am-12:10 pm – The Need for Courageous Clergy Conversations with Rev. Dr. Greg Edwards
12:10 pm-12:50 pm – Lunch Break
12:50 pm-1:00 pm – NBTS Alumni Association Presentation
1:00 pm – 1:45 pm – Observing Interfaith Conversations
1:45 pm – 1:55 pm – Break
1:55 pm – 2:30 pm – Practical Approaches to Uncomfortable Conversations
